THE QUICK ANSWER
What to settle first.
Before dispatch, ask for the provider’s identity, arrival or availability terms, the exact after-hours or assessment charge, what that charge covers, cancellation conditions, and whether any cleanup work requires a separate written authorization. If urgent safety conditions exist, follow emergency guidance; this worksheet is for commercial clarity, not delay.
AT A GLANCE
Three points to clarify.
Provider identity
Business name, representative and callback channel. Resolve: Who is accepting the dispatch request?
Visit charge
Amount or pricing basis and what it covers. Resolve: What can change the charge?
Cancellation
Deadline, method and applicable fee. Resolve: How is cancellation confirmed?
01 / PLAN THE CONVERSATION
Confirm what is being dispatched
Ask whether the call is for telephone triage, an on-site assessment, emergency extraction or another defined service. Record the business name, callback number, expected contact or arrival window and any condition that could change availability.
The questions to ask about a written estimate page can help identify the service description, price and promises that belong in a written record. It does not establish a local price or require a provider to be available.
02 / PLAN THE CONVERSATION
Put the charge and cancellation terms in writing
Write the exact dispatch, after-hours or assessment amount or pricing basis; taxes or other fees; payment timing; and cancellation condition. If the provider cannot quote a final cleanup scope before assessment, distinguish that unknown from the known visit charge.
The contact and service questions page gives the current call route, but the responding provider must confirm its own identity, service area and terms. Do not rely on a directory page as acceptance of a job.

Separate assessment from cleanup authorization
Ask what actions, if any, are covered during the visit and what requires a new authorization. A signature for arrival or inspection should not silently become approval for an undefined cleanup scope.
Save the time, caller, provider representative, terms communicated and any written confirmation. After the visit, compare the invoice or proposal with that record and ask about differences before authorizing additional work.
04 / PLAN THE CONVERSATION
Retain the final call record
Use the site call option to describe the event and ask the responding provider to confirm current availability and all visit terms. This guide does not promise dispatch, arrival time, diagnosis, coverage or a particular charge.
FTC consumer guidance recommends written estimates and careful review of contract terms. Actual emergency choices, local requirements and provider terms remain situation-specific.

CALL-PREPARATION TOOL

Build a short outline from what you know. This does not submit a request or book service.
Your call notes
Questions to ask: The provider and dispatched service are specifically identified. Known visit charges and unknown cleanup costs are separate. Cancellation terms and confirmation method are recorded. Please confirm whether you handle the cleanup and drying needs I describe and serve my address, plus any assessment fees and exclusions.
Common questions
Does an after-hours fee include cleanup?
Only the provider’s written terms can answer that. Ask what the charge covers and which tasks require separate authorization.
Can the provider guarantee an arrival time?
Ask for the current availability or estimated window and how changes are communicated. This site does not make an arrival guarantee.
Should urgent safety action wait for a written estimate?
No worksheet should delay emergency or safety guidance. Use it to document commercial terms when doing so is appropriate and safe.
