THE QUICK ANSWER
What to settle first.
Assign each unit a stable identifier and record its room, approximate placement, start time and provider. For every move, setting change, interruption or pickup, add the time, old and new state, responsible person and provider-stated reason. Keep the equipment log linked to room-and-material monitoring without using it to direct operation yourself.
AT A GLANCE
Three points to clarify.
Unit identity
Provider number, type and starting room. Resolve: Can this unit be traced across visits?
Change event
Time, old state, new state and responsible person. Resolve: What reason did the provider give?
Interruption
Discovery time, condition and notification. Resolve: What instruction was received?
01 / WORK THROUGH THE DECISION
Give every unit a stable identity
Use the provider’s unit number when available, plus the equipment type and starting room. Describe placement by a fixed room reference without moving a unit for documentation. Record setup time and the person or provider who placed it.
The drying materials guide provides context for material-specific drying questions. It does not tell a property owner how to position, adjust or operate professional equipment.
02 / WORK THROUGH THE DECISION
Record changes as events, not overwritten fields
Create a new dated row for each move, setting change, power interruption, alarm, service visit or pickup. Never replace the prior location. Attribute the reason to the provider or mark it unknown.
The structural drying service scope helps connect equipment changes to monitoring locations and provider decisions. Ask which room, material or access change supports the event.

Connect changes to room-and-material monitoring
If power or access is interrupted, record when it was discovered, who was notified and what the provider instructed. Do not restart or alter equipment contrary to provider or safety guidance.
At pickup, record unit identity, collector, time, room completion statement if supplied and remaining equipment. Keep repair exclusions and later monitoring separate from physical pickup.
04 / WORK THROUGH THE DECISION
Close the log with pickup and handoff
Use the site call option to report an equipment-log question without changing a unit. Ask the responding provider to confirm monitoring, service and pickup arrangements. This worksheet is not operating instruction.
EPA guidance supports drying affected materials, while the provider remains responsible for the equipment plan, safety requirements and site-specific completion judgment.

Build a short outline from what you know. This does not submit a request or book service.
Your call notes
Questions to ask: Each unit has one stable identifier. Moves and changes append events instead of overwriting history. Reasons are attributed to the provider or marked unknown. Please confirm whether you handle the cleanup and drying needs I describe and serve my address, plus any assessment fees and exclusions.
Common questions
Should I adjust equipment when a room feels dry?
No. Contact the responsible provider and record its instruction; this log is not an operating guide.
What if a unit has no visible number?
Use a temporary descriptive identifier and ask the provider to confirm a stable unit reference.
Does pickup prove the room is complete?
Ask for the provider’s room-and-material completion record and any remaining handoff; removal alone may not explain the decision.
